Today, as part of his visit to Lithuania, Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu laid a wreath on the memorial to the victims of the Soviet occupation. He also visited the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights.
“Today marks the 78th anniversary of the June deportations of 1941, and the memory of the victims of these events lives in our hearts to this day,” Foreign Minister Reinsalu said. “The deportations were a crime against humanity committed against our own people. We will not forget these horrible events and this injustice in the future,” he added.
Foreign Minister Reinsalu will meet with his Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevičius in Vilnius today.
