Estonia – Lithuania bilateral relations are very good. Estonia and Lithuania have similar foreign policy priorities, which is why there is constant cooperation between the two countries. Lithuania’s geographical proximity to Estonia, commonality on regional security issues, membership in the European Union and NATO, and potential for cooperation in many areas make Lithuania an important strategic partner for Estonia. The three Baltic states, as members of NATO, have very close defense cooperation, based on common security interests and goals and the understanding that small countries can do more together than individually. The cultural and economic relations between the two countries are close and intertwined, there is also active cooperation in the field of science. An Estonia-Lithuanian Friendship Group has been established in the Riigikogu, headed by Enn Eesmaa. The chairman of the Estonia Friendship Group in the Lithuanian Parliament is Linas Urmanavičius.
The Estonian Ambassador to Lithuania is Kaili Terras since November 19, 2024. The Lithuanian Ambassador to Estonia, Raimonda Murmokaitė, presented her credentials to the President of Estonia on September 27, 2022.
Estonia has two honorary consuls in Lithuania: Gintaras Sluckus with consular district Šiauliai, Panevėžys and Utena County and Arnoldas Šileika with consular district Klaipėda, Telšiai and Tauragė County. The honorary consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Estonia, with consular district Tartu and Tartu County, is Birute Klaas-Lang, professor at the University of Tartu and chairwoman of the Estonian Language Council.
The Estonian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce also operates in Vilnius, with the aim of ensuring better information exchange between Estonian companies in Lithuania and representing and protecting the interests of its members. The Estonian-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce offers a number of services, such as market research, assistance in finding partners, etc. The Chamber of Commerce also organizes meetings with Lithuanian entrepreneurs and seminars for companies.
