The Polish Government has announced its intention to reintroduce temporary border controls on the Polish-Lithuanian and Polish-German borders from 7 July.
The new measures are expected to affect freight carriers, passenger carriers and passengers alike. Lithuanian and Polish officials say they are trying to minimise inconveniences, but travellers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time: delays are likely at key border crossings. These are targeted and intensified checks – not the reinstatement of a hard border. The new border controls will come into effect from 07.07.2025.
